Construction economist and CEO of DMC Global Partners, Joe McCaffrey, explores the challenges and opportunities for the Middle East as an emerging and rapidly growing data centre region.

In his first white paper, Joe highlights the importance of addressing efficiencies in power and cooling through intelligent and cohesive design strategies, drawing on valuable lessons from the FLAPD markets.

Using Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), a metric introduced in 2006 by The Green Grid and published as a global standard under ISO/IEC 30134-2:2016, Joe looks at the cost of build per MW to achieve desired levels of PUE, and the sacrifices that might need to be made to deliver on a range of data centre models from hyperscalers, AI and cloud to colocation.
